Chronology of cameras Contax
During Photokina 2002, journalists and the public encountered a non-functional prototype of what would later become the definitive T VS Digital camera. Despite its non-operational state, this model provided a fairly accurate preview of the final product.
The T VS Digital continues the legacy of its renowned analog predecessors, which were highly regarded. There are noticeable similarities between the two types of cameras because Contax (a brand acquired by Kyocera after absorbing Yashica) understood the importance of maintaining the association of quality with a recognizable visual appeal to attract digital customers.
It wasn't until around 2003 that the final models became available. Constructed from titanium, featuring a shutter button with a faux ruby, and offering aperture priority mode, these features aimed to satisfy demanding users or affluent owners (costing around 1000 euros). However, unfortunately, the results were disappointing with soft images.
The Vario-Tessar zoom lens bears the T* mark, indicating it benefits from Zeiss T-star surface treatment, which reduces reflections and enhances image contrast.
